Client’s Challenge

AKA Hair wanted to position itself as a true luxury African hair brand, not just another hair vendor in a crowded market. Although they offered high-quality human hair and premium lashes, their brand needed: 1. A strong luxury identity that felt exclusive and elegant 2. Clear messaging that communicated premium value, not price competition 3. A visual and verbal direction that reflected African heritage with a global luxury appeal 4. A brand voice that spoke to women of all ages while still feeling aspirational In short, AKARA Hair needed to look, sound, and feel like a luxury brand women are proud to wear.

My Strategic Process

1. Brand Discovery & Clarity I started by understanding AKA Hair’s products, audience, and long-term vision. This helped define what luxury truly means for the brand—quality, elegance, heritage, and confidence. 2. Positioning the Brand as African Luxury I developed a clear positioning that placed AKA Hair as an African luxury brand, blending exclusivity with cultural richness instead of generic beauty trends. 3. Defining the Brand Voice I crafted a messaging tone that is confident, empowering, elegant, and slightly mysterious, ensuring the brand speaks with authority and grace. 4. Creating a Strong Visual Direction I recommended a visual identity built around rich colors, premium textures, refined typography, and subtle African influences, making the brand feel timeless and high-end. 5. Product Storytelling Each product category—hair, wigs, ponytails, and lashes—was positioned as a luxury experience, not just a beauty item, reinforcing prestige and quality.
